The first edition of the Agricultural Installation Show attracted some 200 people on Tuesday to La Bruyère, in the province of Namur, its organizer, the United Federation of Breeders and Farmers’ Groups, said at the end of the day ( Fugea).

Throughout the day, the participants – whether or not they come from the agricultural sector – were able to find in one place all the players necessary for a possible installation. Procedures, aid, statutes, financing… the show was intended to be a summary of everything you need to be able to establish yourself in the agricultural sector. There were notably present the Public Service of Wallonia, the agricultural units of banks, experts in accounting and management, the Federation of Notaries, the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain and the Natagriwal association, specialized in advice to farmers.

“This first was a real success,” underlined Marie Goffart, “installation” project manager at Fugea. “The number of participants exceeded our expectations. All ages were represented, with a majority under 35, which was our objective. Many exchanges took place and the workshops organized by our partners were a great success. This bodes well for the future of Walloon agriculture. »

For the moment, barely 12% of farms and 13% of the Walloon agricultural area are in the hands of farmers under the age of 40 established as natural persons, recalls Fugea. Furthermore, farmers under the age of 35 represent less than 5% of the agricultural population in Wallonia.
