Asuncion, IP Agency.- The launch of the first course “Recyclable and Valuable Material Collector” with a curriculum approved by SNFCL Resolution 553/2024, was held this Friday in the Villa Victoria Hall in the city of Luque. This program seeks to provide recyclers with the necessary tools to improve and formalize their work.
Declared of environmental interest by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES) through Resolution No. 386/2024, it was carefully designed jointly by Soluciones Ecológicas SA and the National System of Labor Training and Capacity Building (Sinafocal), to offer recyclers the necessary tools to improve and formalize their work.
The training is supported by Coca-Cola Paresa and the Municipality of Luque, strategic allies that support this project focused on strengthening the circular economy and promoting sustainability.
The 60-hour course will initially train 20 grassroots recyclers, providing them with essential knowledge on waste recovery and recyclable materials management, while also delving into topics such as financial education and soft skills.
This effort not only seeks to improve their working conditions and make their essential contribution visible, but also to fully integrate them into the recycling process, with a view to consolidating a more inclusive and fair system.
The launch of this course is a significant step towards a circular economy that not only promotes environmental sustainability, but also seeks to empower grassroots recyclers as key players in the country’s transformation towards a cleaner, more equitable and sustainable future.
The Technical Secretary of Sinafocal, Alfredo Mongelos, stated that this event marks a significant advance in the country’s commitment to education and the dignity of the basic recycler, offering new development opportunities through the professionalization of their work.”
“Each effort will contribute to building a more environmentally friendly future, moving towards an inclusive and sustainable circular economy. Furthermore, this initiative is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), to which Paraguay has committed itself,” Mongelos highlighted.
The training will last 60 hours and participants will learn about waste valorisation and the management of recyclable materials, as well as gain knowledge of financial education and soft skills. This effort not only seeks to improve working conditions and make their essential contribution visible, but also to fully integrate them into the recycling process, with a view to consolidating a more inclusive and fair system.
Participants received kits containing a cap, a t-shirt, a pen, a pencil, an eraser, a notebook, work pants, a shoe and a name tag.
This program represents a milestone in the recognition of the grassroots recycler as a fundamental piece for sustainability and the circular economy, promoting green jobs that transform waste into opportunities.
