A Anker today launched its first two KVM docks (keyboard, video and mouse): o 553 (for desktop and laptop setups) and the 554 (for workstations with two laptops). In addition to marking the manufacturer’s first step with this type of accessory, they also bring the differential of having a series of USB-C ports — something rare in KVM docks.

In both models, there are two USB-C ports on the back of the accessory that are used to connect the two computers. In the case of the 554, both can deliver up to 65W of power to recharge the battery of laptops, while only one has this possibility in the 553.

Both accessories feature interchangeable stands for Macs and PCs, and allow you to connect up to two 4K displays at 60Hz simultaneously with the computer. For this, the 553 has two HDMI 2.0 ports e two DisplayPort 1.4 ports (with two inputs and two outputs), while the 554 brings one HDMI 2.0 port e one DisplayPort 1.4 port. The accessory USB-C ports, it’s worth noting, don’t work with video.

On the front of both docks, the user can find a very similar port layout for peripherals. In both cases, there are one USB-C PD port able to deliver up to 20W of power and perform transfers at a speed of up to 5Gbpsin addition to one USB 2.0 port (480Mbps) e two USB-A ports (5Gbps) which, in the case of the 554, can deliver up to 7.5W of power each.

Both also have a 3.5mm jack for headphones on the left side. There is also a magnetic control whose cable runs out of the right side of the two docks, which allows the user to quickly switch between computers.

Both the 553 and 554 work with computers (macOS Monterey 12 or superior; Windows 10 or higher), iPads and even the Steam Deck. They come with a power adapter, a 1m USB-C cable (two in the case of the 554), a 1.5m HDMI cable (553 only), a DisplayPort cable (553 only), a USB- A for USB-C (553 only), a welcome guide, and an 18-month warranty.

Anker KVM 553 dock is available on Amazon US by US$270while the 554 comes out by US$250.
