Firmware updates close security gaps › Dr. Windows

The fifth and sixth generation of the Surface Pro receive updated firmware via Windows Update. It is essentially product maintenance, but also closes a security gap.

Surface Pro 5 and Surface Pro 6 only differ in the built-in CPU generation, so it is not surprising that many firmware components are the same. With the latest update, the Intel Management Engine Interface – IMEI for short – is updated, in which once once more a security gap had to be closed.

The other driver updates are dedicated to the general device stability, the changelogs do not go into more detail.
