Fireworks batteries set the house facade in Andorf on fire

Passers-by driving past alerted the emergency services around 1:20 a.m. A dumpster caught fire and set the facade of the adjacent house on fire. The four Andorf fire departments extinguished the fire using heavy breathing apparatus and opened the facade to extinguish the remaining embers, as the fire department reports. A vehicle parked next to the house was also slightly damaged.

People or surrounding buildings were never at risk, police said on New Year’s Day.

The exact amount of damage has not yet been determined. The fire investigators’ investigations showed that it was highly likely that the remains of fireworks batteries caused the fire.

Garbage fire in Attnang-Puchheim

In Attnang-Puchheim, too, the fire brigade had to be deployed on New Year’s Eve – and here too, the remains of fireworks batteries were probably responsible. Walkers discovered a fire in a garbage dump and alerted the emergency services. They kept the flames under control with a hand-held fire extinguisher until they arrived. Fortunately, the comrades from the Puchheim fire department quickly got the situation under control.
