One Structural fire was registered since the followingnoon of this Sunday in the commune of Colina, northern sector of the Metropolitan Region, and affected Tecno Fast company warehouses, from the construction industry.
The emergency developed from around 5:30 p.m. in the sector of Bayona and Camino Coquimbo streets, near Route 5, and Firefighters declared a sixth alarm fire.
The fire, “by the amount of combustible material in place, has generated high temperature, which at times has made the work of firefighters difficult, also due to the large stockpiles of containers that are one on top of the other “, informed the commander of the Colina-Lampa Fire Department, Sebastián Benítez.
It has affected “mainly a large part of the storage yard, in the assembly area and the warehouse area,” he said.
More than 27 companies from Paine, Conchalí, Quilicura, Santiago, Ñuñoa and Tiltil worked in the incident.
Neighbors close to the scene of the incident showed their concern and pointed out that “if this continues to spread, it will take hold of other companies. Behind that there is a pasture, there is a (ground) wasteland Y on one side are the neighbors’ houses“.
Later, around 22:00, the firefighting commander updated that the fire was already being “attacked from all four sides” and was “circumscribed”.
“The situation is not 100% controlled yet, but we have prevented it from spreading“, he stressed, although a few minutes later the emergency was controlled.
No injured people have been reported. Security personnel had only been in the facilities since Friday, and it was this person who gave notice of the situation.
The flames generated a large column of black smoke.
