They needed the support of more than 40 firefighters from the municipalities of Rionegro, El Carmen de Viboral and Guarne, as well as the firefighter unit of the Colombian Aerospace Force, to contain the large fire that occurred at 06:30 pm on December 3 in a warehouse in the Rionegro free zone.
“It is giving a piece of peace to our community since “Our firefighters were able to control the emergency,” indicated Second Lieutenant Carlos Daza, Commander Carlos Daza of the Rionegro Fire Department.

For his part, the mayor of the municipality of Oriente Antioquia, Jorge Rivas, assured that thanks to the timely reaction of the Risk Management organizations and relief organizations The emergency left no deaths or injuries.

Emergency caused panic
The large fire was seen from the municipal seat of Rionegro since Flames and smoke rose several meters from the structure. This was evident in the videos published on social networks recorded by workers in the free zone and by residents of the municipality.
Some witnesses to the emergency stated that they were evacuated from the warehouses surrounding the one that was on fire and that they could not enter until the emergency was completely controlled.

After controlling the emergency the oRisk Management bodies and the Rionegro Fire Department will advance the investigations to determine what were the causes of the fire that left the warehouse of the free zone completely destroyed.
Some workers at the site assured that the fire became a large one because In that warehouse, in addition to manufacturing fiberglass boats, it is full of solvents and paints that are used for finishing them.
However, the authorities still do not dare to say whether the fire occurred due to human error or due to an electrical failure in the warehouse itself, which are the main hypotheses that they are handling so far.
