Firefighters also removed fallen trees on Monday – 31 times

According to the Fire Protection and Rescue Department, from Monday 6 a.m. to Tuesday 6 a.m., rescuers went 31 times to remove fallen trees and branches from the roadway, buildings and elsewhere.

There were seven such departures in Kaunas County, six in Utena County, five in Alytus County, four in Klaipėda County, three each in Vilnius and Telšiai County, and two in Šiauliai County. Rescuers received one call in Marijampole county.

On Monday, at 7:50 a.m., a report was received that a tree had fallen on the train tracks in Kaunas, Petrašiūnai, on R. Kalantas Street. When rescuers arrived, the tree was removed from the train tracks with the help of a chain saw.

In Kaunas, on Medvēgelis Street, a tree fell on the territory of a kindergarten, and in Prienai District, Pociūnai Village, a tree fell on the roof of a summer house at the airfield.

According to the firefighters, the tree was leaning and leaning against other trees, the firefighters did not have the opportunity to remove the tree, so they just stood by until the services arrived.

In the village of Siponii in Birštonas precinct, firefighters cut down two fallen trees and removed them from the road surface.

In Vilkaviškis district, Šeimena ward, Maldėnai village, firefighters used a lift to cut a dangerously leaning branch above the roadway.

In Vilnius, due to the effects of the storm that raged over the weekend, Bernardinai garden in the Old Town was closed.

Over the weekend, Grinda, the company that oversees the city’s streets and environment, received over 300 different reports, the vast majority of which were about broken branches and trees, wind-blown fences or billboards.

The wind washed over the trees in Antakalnis, Šnipiškii, Naujininkai parks, schools and kindergartens. Old or disease-affected trees were particularly affected, some of which were only supported by reinforcements.

About 20 large trees were uprooted by the wind in Vingis Park, about 10 in Bernardinai Garden, three in Pasakaki Park, and one tree each in Sapiegi and Jomanto Parks.
