Filip De Wilde (59) has been fired by the Football Federation. He had been in office for 11 years. De Wilde was both youth goalkeeper coaching coordinator and U21 and U15 goalkeeper coach. Recently, he was still coach of the goalkeepers of the Diablotins Vandevoordt, Lammens and Delanghe of Jacky Mathijssen at the Euro. Mathijssen’s sacking has nothing to do with De Wilde’s C4. “The Federation wanted me to do more for the salary I was getting,” De Wilde said. But I only had a part-time contract. So I asked for a full-time contract, which I was refused, for lack of budget. My dismissal is therefore not a surprise. And everything was settled correctly.”
The former goalkeeper (and goalkeeper coach) of Anderlecht and the Devils is turning 60, but does not rule out that he will stay in football. “It will all depend on the offers.”
