Fire outbreak forced evacuation in the “Huacal”

An exhausting smoke enveloped this Friday morning the Juan Pablo Duarte government office building, popularly known as the “Huacal” following a short circuit occurred on the 14th floor.

Even the amount of smoke appeared to be a fire, one of the managers of the structure’s emergency brigade confirmed that it was only an attempt.

“It was an attempt, there was no fire as such,” said the manager, while revealing that it was a short circuit in an air conditioning unit.

“An air conditioning unit on the 14th floor overheated and produced heavy smoke,” he said.

Although the brigade, together with the firefighters, managed to quickly solve the situation, all the personnel in the building were evacuated, who later resumed their work.

The start of the situation originated around 8:53 in the morning.
