The fire broke out in an agroforestry area shortly after 3 in the afternoon, while strong winds are blowing in the area. 16 vehicles with 28 employees, two infantry units with 15 people from the 3rd EMODE, as well as two firefighting helicopters are operating on site.
The fire started in an olive grove with dry grass, south of Prophet Ilias, towards Kyparissi, and is ongoing. Municipal water tankers also rushed to the scene.
Earlier, shortly before one in the afternoon on Saturday, the firefighters quickly contained the fire that broke out at the entrance of the village of Sokara, on the slopes of the road, before it could spread.
4 vehicles and 10 firefighters rushed to the scene and quickly brought it under control.
