Firefighters are battling the blaze as strong winds blow through the area.

Until recently, the fiery front was located inside the triangle formed by the settlements of Petries, Krieza and Alonia.

Message from 112 in Krieza and Petries

Earlier in the morning, residents of the Krieza and Petries areas received a new message from 112 with instructions to evacuate due to a fire.
It is recalled that shortly after 01:20 on Tuesday morning, 112 rang again, calling the residents who are in Klimaki and Liani Ammos to move away to Krieza. The Minister of Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilias is also in the area since yesterday. The minister was welcomed by the commander of the Fire Department Kostantinos Pssarros who was in the fire from the first moment.

The minister spoke yesterday of “a difficult fire, as it started in a difficult place, in grassland, low vegetation and went away quickly”. This, he added, “forced them to bring in additional forces, ground and air.”

Also, forces of EL.AS. have been developed to facilitate the removal of residents. The coordination of all firefighting forces is carried out by the OLYMPOS Mobile Operations Center.
