Dakar, March 10 (APS) – The Minister of Community Development and Social and Territorial Equity, Samba Ndiobène Kâ and his colleague of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Alioune Ndoye, went Thursday followingnoon to the Salle in Dakar to bring the government’s ”support and compassion” to merchants recently victims of a violent fire.
“The President of the Republic has sent us to come and express his support and all his compassion as well as that of the government to our compatriots (the merchants) who are victims of this fire”, declared Samba Ndiobène Kâ.
The two ministers, accompanied by numerous officials and territorial elected officials, visited the site completely reduced to ashes.
”We have come to bring the compassion and solidarity of the President of the Republic to these affected populations. We came to give them moral support and even finance,” he added.
”We want to reassure them of the presence of the President of the Republic and his Government. It is important in such circumstances to support these victims,” he added.
He announced that the President of the Republic has promised to offer the sum of 75 million CFA francs to the affected merchants.
“We welcome this gesture from the Head of State. We too, together with the mayor of the city of Dakar, have decided to round up this amount to bring it to 100 million CFA francs,” said Alioune Ndoye, also mayor of Dakar-Plateau, whose municipality houses the sales room.
Asked regarding a possible eviction of the occupants of the site, Alioune Ndoye assured that all the actors will meet and think together to see the best solution to take.
The two ministers had previously spoken at length with the various players in this market, located in the heart of the Senegalese capital.
