Fire at Stock Exchange Building, Karachi, brought under control: Fire Brigade

Fire brigade officials in Karachi say that the fire that broke out in the building of the Pakistan Stock Exchange was brought under control on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122 Sindh, the cooling process is going on in the building and no loss of life has been reported due to this fire.

Earlier, rescue officials in Karachi said that a fire has broken out in the Pakistan Stock Exchange building.

According to rescue officials, the fire broke out on the fourth floor of the stock exchange building and fire brigade personnel with five vehicles were trying to douse the fire.

While in the videos released by the charity Edhi Foundation, flames and smoke can be seen rising from the fourth floor of the Pakistan Stock Exchange building.

Background

Karachi Stock Exchange is the largest stock exchange of Pakistan. It was established on 18 September 1947.

In the beginning it had 90 members while only a few were serving as single brokers.

Only five companies with a paid-up capital of Rs 37 million were registered.

Today it has become the largest stock exchange of Pakistan with 724 companies and 200 members.

The Karachi Stock Exchange was witnessing a boom in business for the past few weeks.
