Fire affects a building in the middle of Paseo Ahumada, in the center of Santiago

A fire broke out during the hours of this followingnoon in the heart of Santiago.

It is a building located in Alameda con Ahumada, in the heart of the capital

Through social networks, videos began to circulate where it is seen how the fire and smoke come out of one of the windows of the building.

Seven cars from the Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Traffic from Alameda to the west was diverted through Miraflores for buses, and through Mac-Iver for cars.

The Traffic Prefect, Colonel Juan Carlos Rodríguez, provided further information and commented that “at approximately 5:45 p.m. Police learned through cameras that in Ahumada with Alameda a fire was starting. Firefighters were called, who brought the situation under control.

He further added that “fortunately, no people were injured” and that “the evacuation took place without any problem”.

For his part, Captain Juan Carlos Subercaseaux, of the First Fire Company of Santiago, reported that the “affected floor was number 8”. Likewise, it specified that the property was “a dental clinic. The damage was quite limited and it was only an office”.

“It’s just material damage and the Fire Investigation Department of the Santiago Fire Department will carry out the corresponding expert reports”, he added.
