Finnish Airlines introduces new luxurious seats, but what’s new in them?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — There are many reasons why business class seats on a plane are so expensive. Currently, one airline is trying to revolutionize the world of in-flight luxury by introducing a business class seat that does not bend.

The new Airlounge seats for Finnair were revealed on Thursday, and they are very spacious and more private, featuring backrests up to 132 centimeters high, which turn in the direction of the aisle.

However, these seats do not recline.

Promotional videos for the new seats, developed by Collins Aerospace, show a simple control panel in the armrest, along with lighting options and a Do Not Disturb sign, but there is no recline option in between.

The seats are arranged according to a 1-2-1 format, which means that everyone can access the aisle directly.

There is a hard plastic divider between the middle seats that can be lowered for those traveling together.

According to a press release, the airline drew inspiration from traditional seating in the living room.

“The seat is designed to enhance your comfort, space, and freedom of movement during a long-haul flight,” he added.

The goal was to create “a more residential environment,” said David Kondo of Finnair’s customer experience team.

The experience will have a typical Finnish feel, as the covers and cushions have been specially designed by Marimekko, while the crockery will be provided by Littala.

Finnair fleets will be equipped with these new A330 and A350 seats, with 28 seats per cabin in the first and approximately 43 seats in the second.
