No slopestyle medal for Ragettli and Co.
For the Swiss freestylers it was a disappointment in the slopestyle final. Andri Ragettli, the best of the qualification, and Fabian Bösch miss the medals. Kim Gubser gives forfeit.
Not much was missing for Andri Ragettli’s first Olympic medal. In the end, the 23-year-old from Flims was 1.85 points behind the Swede Jesper Tjader, who took bronze, so that the Grisons was left with the thankless fourth place.
Ragettli showed two good runs, but didn’t manage to improve once more compared to the qualification. In the first run he didn’t manage a rail section quite as he wished, in the second run, his best, he had trouble with the grave on the second jump, which ultimately cost him the medal. In the third attempt, when he had to risk everything, Ragettli already failed the first jump, which burst the dream of precious metal.
Bösch showed a good first run, which – similar to the qualification – was rated relatively low and earned him “only” 78.05 points. The 24-year-old from Engelberg wasn’t able to improve following that because he already made a mistake in the rail section. Kim Gubser, eighth in qualifying, was unable to compete in the final due to a hamstring injury.
