Fine for Feyenoord after fan riots in Graz

After the fan riots at the Europa League game between Sturm Graz and Feyenoord Rotterdam, the Dutch have been fined 50,000 euros by the European Football Union (UEFA). As the continental association announced on Tuesday, Feyenoord must also contact the Styrians in the next few days to settle the damage caused by the fans.

The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has also banned the sale of tickets to Feyenoord away fans for the next two UEFA competition matches. UEFA cited “disturbing the peace, lighting fireworks, throwing objects and damage” as the reason. Around the game on October 27, which Sturm won 1-0 with a late goal, the Feyenoord supporters caused extensive property damage around the stadium in Liebenau.

Videos of the clean-up work in the stadium following the match showed completely destroyed toilet facilities with toilets and urinals smashed or torn away. The pottery was apparently smashed on the ground in the premises, but also partly outside, doors may have been thrown over the railings. Several fans and police officers were injured when the supporters streamed away following the end of the game.

For further riots in the group game once morest Lazio Rome (1-0) a week later, Feyenoord received further fines totaling 56,000 euros and a partial ban on a home stand in the next UEFA competition game.
