You’ve probably heard of Tourette’s Syndrome (TGS), but do you know the people who live with it? In Quebec, one person out of 100 would be affected at different degrees of intensity. Living with Tourette’s means coping with a complex neurodevelopmental disorder without intellectual disability, which appears on average at the age of six, and which is accompanied nine times out of ten by a host of other disorders… such as OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. Although the syndrome is widespread, diagnoses take time to obtain. Children living with TS struggle to access appropriate services and find a school to accommodate them, even though their abilities are comparable to those of neurotypical children.
