The post read: “After several weeks of fruitless searching, we need you! Our dear Ben is getting tired and needs a little love. The problem is that there doesn’t seem to be anyone in Quebec anymore who repairs neon signs. So, if you know someone or even better, than it’s you, let us know!”
The call for help did not go unanswered.
In less than 24 hours, the Facebook post was shared 13,000 times and racked up over 1,000 comments.
The owner of the canteen, Jimmy Dubé, spoke today with the team of TVANouvelles and explained the problems repeated by the repairers he has approached.
The project may seem simple, but “it’s something that’s much more complicated,” he remarked.
This is partly because of its size and because it is in fact fixed to the ground, which makes it impossible to move, that no one has taken charge of its repair.
Mr. Dubé added that he “mightn’t find anyone who wanted to commit to the project or had the parts and labor to do so.”
And now, the question that many are asking:
The owner now finds himself faced with a new, but happy problem: too many people have applied.
In a second publication, the canteen team was reassuring and revealed that it was “on the right track to find the best person who will restore the look of youth to our Ben”.
We will know in the next few days the identity of the person who will take care of saving Ben.
