If Resident Evil 4 changed the course of the franchise and brought the horror game series closer to something connected with action, paving the way for what we would see in RE5 and 6, in the remake the situation will probably be different. Since the announcement, Capcom has been hitting the same key, warning that the new version of the classic will be darker, and now the co-director has returned to indicate that the title will have a stronger footprint of survival horror.
According to developer information, fans should expect a much darker and more sinister storyline with a different focus than the original. However, it seems that the changes to make the game scarier will also be directly present in the gameplay and other mechanics.
Resident Evil 4 Remake will be scarier than the original
According to Yasuhiro Ampo, the co-director of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom’s new game was made in a way that made it scarier than the original title. In an interview with Game Informer, Ampo revealed that the overall structure and the way enemies spawn underwent changes in the reimagining, with the team looking to add more horror elements to the game.
According to the co-director, the original content was respected, but changes were made so that the experience can be more terrifying for players. Check out what Yasuhiro Ampo said below.
The fluidity of the original game itself is incredibly well done. I mean the structure and the way enemies appear. Generally speaking, there weren’t many things we wanted to change. However, we felt that we might take each element and go deeper. So our idea was, “Can we make the horror elements scarier?”
