It is not easy to learn a language and less so if you do not surround yourself with people, culture and knowledge that allow you to speed up the process. According to different specialists, the fastest way to learn another language is by having the opportunity to travel and soak up the knowledge that another land offers you: “It is an investment of time for the person who decides so and it will allow you to develop skills that You didn’t know that you had, like independence, achieving greater autonomy and generating a network of international contacts that allow you to function in the world”, says Pablo Parera, General Manager of EF Education First.

The usual thing is to make study tours abroad. However, Parera points out that more and more people are opting for other methodologies: “Open group trips have all the advantages of our normal programs with the addition of an accompanying leader. Boys from all over Chile travel, normally in groups of 30 students. This kind of travel hasn’t stopped and we had regular departures in January and July throughout the pandemic to our school at EF New York,” he says.

The executive emphasizes that this format is not a exchange normal, “because children are not left alone here. There is a tutor who works for EF who helps the young people at all times. A much more personalized modality that helps to reinforce the practice of the language that needs to be learned and that does not leave children thrown in the lions”.

Likewise, Parera affirms that the most common is that schools choose to use their stay as a study tour or course trip, “with a more academic touch, like what we offer. Approximately four or five school groups travel with us each year, usually for two to four weeks, to destinations in England or the United States where we have schools. These programs are all-inclusive: accommodation, meals, medical insurance, course with certificate, trained leaders, entertainment activities, airfare and transfers from the airport to destination. The plans are fully organized to suit the school and even the course, always with the safety of the children ahead”.

The company currently has 10 more proposals for group travel in 2023, which has been a good number after the pause in travel due to the pandemic, to date. “The interest in achieving one of these travel modalities comes from all over Chile and not only from Santiago,” says the executive.
