Vienna (OTS) At the beginning of October, two financial police officers became lifesavers as part of an operational training course on the A10 in Salzburg: The two employees Klaus Smeritschnig and Mario Kainz suddenly came to an accident scene on the motorway, which they secured and rushed to the aid of an injured person. The man from Hungary who was involved in the accident suffered a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated.

The 26-year-old accident victim was lucky that one of the financial police officers who rushed to the scene is a trained emergency paramedic, was able to immediately give first aid and began resuscitation measures. At the same time, his colleague organized the rescue and several first aid kits from the surrounding vehicles. The two were supported by a doctor who also happened to arrive at the scene of the accident.

“Thanks to the quick and committed action of the two colleagues from the financial police, a person was revived and thus saved from death. “I would like to thank them both for their courageous efforts and am glad that they remained calm in this exceptional situation and were able to provide first aid immediately,” said Finance Minister Magnus Brunner.

After successful resuscitation, the accident victim was taken to the emergency helicopter in a critical but stable condition and flown to the nearest hospital.
