Financial Aid for Immigrants in Illinois: $2,000 Support Program by Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights

CHICAGO, Illinois– The Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and the Illinois Department of Human Services offer a $2,000 financial aid for immigrants regardless of immigration status.

Its regarding Immigrant Family Support Project o Immigran Family Support Project (IFSP), focused on those people who might not access or do not have other support of this type.

The applications They started last October and continue to be open during this month of June 2023.

According to the call, those interested must provide their information and some documents, but in case they do not have them they can still approach the organization in case of a possible exception.

One of the requirements to access support is not have any other type of financial aidsuch as federal payments, covid supports, unemployment supports or SNAP.

The call for the IFSP establishes the following requirements:

to be 18 years old or more
Being an Illinois resident
Have an income equal to or less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Index
Not having any economic support program such as federal covid support payments, unemployment insurance, SNAP.
Not be part of the DACA program.
Not receive financial support from the City of Chicago or Cook County.

What documents are requested for financial aid?

According to the organization’s page, those interested must present proof of identity, proof of residence and proof of income.

However, if you do not have any or none of these documents, exceptions might be made, so call the organization.
