Nothing is more annoying on TikTok than not being able to find a video you just watched that you would like to share with your friends. Now, TikTok seems to have finally heard users’ requests for a watch history.
Most TikTok users will know it: you look for a specific, recently viewed video in your likes and favorites, but you just can’t find it once more – because there was no history on TikTok until now. Accidentally updating the For You Page can also lead to frustration if a TikTok was on display at that moment that you would have liked to finish watching and save. With the amount of content that the average TikTok user consumes every day, it is not always possible to remember the username or similar to find the TikTok once more.
The platform itself also seems to have recognized this user problem and is now testing a function that displays the playback history for the first time. The feature was spotted and shared by Hammod Oh, while social media expert Matt Navarra also shared the news on his Twitter account.

View up to 7 days of watch history
The function, which is currently still available to a few users, can be called up via the settings and the “Content and activity” item. Another screenshot shared by Hammod Oh shows that the feature allows users to see up to seven days of their watch history. As can also be seen from the screenshot, users can also switch off the history at any time if necessary.
However, the most important question currently remains unanswered: when will the feature be available to all users? In response to a related Request from TechCrunch a:e TikTok spokesman:in simply replied:
We’re always thinking regarding new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience.
Users may have to be patient until the function is rolled out for everyone. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can also view the history by downloading your own TikTok data. This is possible via the items “Privacy”, “Personalization and data” and “Download my data”. However, since this way is extremely cumbersome, the platform’s new history feature will certainly come in handy for most users.
