Finally the light at the end of the tunnel for Romeo Lavia? – FootNews

For several months, Roméo Lavia’s career has been at a standstill. It must be said that the Red Devil has been suffering from a series of injuries.

In the summer of 2023, Chelsea did not hesitate to spend more than 60 million euros to snatch the young Belgian midfielder from Southampton. But since his arrival at the Blues, the 20-year-old has only played three official matches.

Injured at the start of the season, Lavia was able to return to the field in December but after only a few minutes of play against Crystal Palace, he was once again forced to withdraw for several months.

Hamstring injury

This summer, the Belgian finally seemed set to break everything at the Blues. Indeed, he had participated in the entire preparation with Chelsea and had obtained playing time against Manchester City and Servette FC.

But as is often the case, an injury put an end to this great dynamic. Injured in the hamstrings, the player trained at Anderlecht has already missed five official matches. Although he has finally returned to training, Lavia does not seem ready to play again yet.

Back this weekend?

This Monday, Enzo Maresca announced that Lavia would miss Tuesday’s match against Borrow, a club from the English fourth division. The Blues coach hopes to be able to count on the Belgian midfielder this Saturday against Brighton, but it is not yet certain that the Red Devil will be at 100%.
