Final touches for the opera ball: dress rehearsal in the “almost finished ballroom”

Before the 5,000 guests jostle on the Feststiege of the Vienna State Opera to attend the 65th Opera Ball, the dress rehearsal was scheduled for Wednesday evening.

“We’re rehearsing today in the almost finished ballroom, the complete set-up is timed by the hour until tomorrow when the ball starts, for example the floral decorations are still missing,” said the State Opera Director Bogdan Roscicwho is very proud of his little daughter, who sings in the children’s choir.

At the forefront was of course the young men’s and women’s committee, which also included para-ski ace Johannes Aigner with his sister Elisabeth is there.

Also the daughter of the Oscar-winning director Stefan Ruzowitzky, Anna, as well as an all-female couple, are among the debutants. However, the two women are just friends. “Let’s go, we’ll pack it, we’ve got what it takes,” motivated the choreographer Maria Santner their protégés in front of the student polka. After that she was very happy. Incidentally, she had support because her husband, Marco Angeliniwatched the rehearsal.

There was thunderous applause for the performances by the Ballet Academy and the Vienna State Ballet. A dream came true for one. Because the Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund will sing the Vilja song from “The Merry Widow” at the opening and with heroic tenor Andrew Schager “Two hearts in three-four time” by Robert Stolz. For Andreas Schager, the opera ball is also very informal, following all he performs together with his wife, a violinist Lydia Baichon.
