The elections took place on December 17, and thousands of Serbs protested the alleged fraud.

In the regional elections, SNS received 47.31 percent. votes, and SPN – 21.85 percent, RIK data show.

RIK did not comment on the published results, only updated the data. Now they show that the votes have been counted in all the polling stations.

Opposition groups are disputing the results, while SPN has called for an international, independent investigation by the European Union.

Among other things, the opposition claims that ethnic Serbs from neighboring Bosnia were illegally allowed to vote in Belgrade and that they were bussed to the Serbian capital.

International observers also reported irregularities, including vote buying and multiple voting. Several Western countries have expressed concern regarding the election process.

On January 2, A. Vučić rejected the possibility of any external investigation and said that the elections are a matter for Serbian state institutions.

Over the past few days, Serbian citizens have been able to vote once more in around 30 polling stations where the election commission might not clearly determine the results. These are mostly neighborhoods in rural areas.

The opposition boycotted the vote and the SNS achieved the predicted victory in these precincts. In one of them, the party received almost 85 percent. of votes.

After the election, protesters take to the streets and demand the annulment of the election results. In Belgrade, streets are sometimes blocked during protests.

The culmination of the rallies was on December 24, when demonstrators attempted to break into the Belgrade City Hall with stones and flagpoles, breaking its windows.

The police pushed back the demonstrators and arrested more than 30 of them. Some of them are still in detention.
