Castingshow-Final
Lucerne’s Lorent Berisha misses the “DSDS” throne – and is still a winner
The 19-year-old from Dierikon took 3rd place in the final. But his song “Complicated” is already high in the charts.
It wasn’t meant to be: Lorent Berisha, 19, the singing Swiss with Kosovan roots in “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, just missed the podium. The final of the RTL casting show on Saturday evening was won by someone else: Sem Eisinger. The decision was broadcast live from the Coloneum studio in Cologne via TV to millions of rooms. So the record deal and the 100,000 euros don’t go to Switzerland.
Still, Berisha is a winner. He received a lot of praise from the jury for the live premiere of his ballad “Complicated”. “You gave everything, it was great,” said pop titan Dieter Bohlen. Pietro Lombardi, DSDS winner 2011, said: “The song suits you perfectly.” “Complicated” was already in the top ten in the Swiss iTunes charts on Saturday.
Sam Smith should have brought luck to Lorent Berisha
The 19-year-old sang a total of three songs on Saturday. With «Red» from Daniel Merriweather he delighted pop titan Dieter Bohlen: “You’re a surprise. The Swiss don’t show their feelings that much – but you poured your heart out, fought a lot more than the other three, that touched me. » After Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down”, rapper Katja Krasavice even said “I love you” in Albanian – and:
“It was sick!”

Numerous Lorent fans cheered on in the “Coloneum”, including his family, of course. “When Lorent sings, I always cry,” said the mother in a single player. And the father: “I’m so proud to see my son on TV.”
Back to normal? Hardly likely
It will be interesting to see how Berisha’s singing career will continue. For the medical practice assistant – he works in a practice in Root – life has changed quite a bit in the past few months. All the way back to normal? Hardly likely.
It has been a long time since a candidate from Switzerland was as close to the “DSDS” title as Berisha. After Luca Hänni (2012) and Beatrice Egli (2013), he would have been the third Swiss winner of the talent show. (hor)
