Sony kicked off the summer festivities with a third-party State of Play. As expected, we had the right to the presence of Final Fantasy XVI. Square Enix’s software even concluded the show, becoming the highlight of the show. And the show, there is in the trailer released.
Still relatively mysterious so far, Final Fantasy XVI showed up via an explosive new video. Yoshida Naoki and Hiroshi Takai, respectively producer and game director of Square Enix, came to bring more details via a message posted on the PlayStation Blog. This is how we learn that the hero of this episode, Clive Rosfield, will have several attacks related to the Primordials, the invocations of the title. The latter will be able to fight between them and us “will dive into the action” according to the studio. Yoshida Naoki adds that “the power of the PlayStation 5“lets board”for a fluid journey, with a captivating story and rich in thrills”.
The most observant will notice a fairly clean interface that can recall that of a fighting game, especially during boss fights. The trailer does not yet answer all questions, such as those related to the structure of the game. Corridors? Real open-world? The future will tell.
Square Enix says Final Fantasy XVI has entered the final phase of its development and that the final version is near. It is expected for the summer of 2023 exclusively on PlayStation 5.
