The pandemic has prevented Square Enix from having its Final Fantasy XIV fan festivals for the past few years, so the Japanese company has decided to revive it with many exciting announcements.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is definitely the highlight, as it will be the game’s fifth major expansion when it arrives next summer. It will take us to the new tropical world called Tural where awe-inspiring mountains, lush forests and crystal clear blue water await us as we leave the new central town of Tuliyollal.
Exploring these areas might inspire you to change up your character a bit, which is why the expansion will also offer two new DPS jobs, the ability to wear goggles and have two dyes on each piece of gear, bring major graphical improvements and implement new equipment.
That’s not to say we’re just going to have fun without caring regarding the world, because Tural has new enemy types. Add to that promises of new allied tribes (including the return of Pelupelu), increased level cap from 90 to 100, new dungeons, new core battle content (like FATEs, hunts, side quests and treasure hunts), service support updates, and new raids, and there’s certainly plenty to be excited regarding.
Not that we’ll have to wait until 2024 for exciting things. Phil Spencer also took to the stage to reveal that Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox Series. The official launch won’t happen until next spring, but there will be an open beta when patch 6.5 launches this fall.
Then it’s rather fitting that the free trial is also being extended to include Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood and all up to update 4.58 around the same time.
Expect to hear more regarding it all when the fan fest hits London on October 21. In the meantime, check out the trailer and images below to get a better look at Dawntrail.
