Game News Final Fantasy VII: Square Enix abandons one of its most recent games and admits its failure
The announcement comes less than a year following the launch of the game. The free-to-play battle royale taking place in the city of Midgar before the events of Final Fantasy VII is officially released by Square Enix, which admits having missed its target and her goals…
Final Fantasy VII : The First (and the last) Soldier
It must be believed that the appeal of the formula of the battle royale did not find a relevant echo with the fans of the saga Final Fantasy. Predictable or not in the more or less short term, the announcement of the decommissioning of the game Final Fantasy VII : The First Soldier on mobile, less than a year following its launch, remains a terrible admission of failure for the editor.

End of Service Notice: We regret to inform you that we will be ending service for FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER at 07:00 UTC on January 11, 2023. We would like to thank you all for your support during the past year.
Only a few months left to enjoy it
Launched on November 17, 2021, this spin-off of the very popular seventh episode of the Final Fantasy saga offered a completely new approach within the framework of the franchise: a mobile game available in free-to-play and taking up the routines of a battle royal in arenas. A proposal that did not really appeal to fans of the series, more accustomed to solo experiences, even taking as a framework the well-known environments of Midgar, recreated for the occasion. In a detailed message, Square Enix explains the reasons for this decision which will lead to the cessation of the online service on January 11, 2023.
After nearly a year of jumping chocobos, melee fighting, and shooting from the rooftops of Midgar Undercity, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the end of service for FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER. We will end the service at 07:00 UTC on January 11, 2023.
Despite our best efforts to bring you regular updates with fresh and exciting content, we were unable to provide you with the experience we hoped for and that you all deserve. We have therefore made the extremely difficult decision to end the service of FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER. We would like to thank you all for your support over the past year.
Although there are just under 3 months left before the end of the service, we will continue to make updates during this period. So we hope you continue to enjoy FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER until the end.
The publisher will therefore remain present until the end to ensure the follow-up of the game by the fateful date, which should result in the deployment of some updates essential to the proper functioning of the title. Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will bid us farewell on January 11, 2023 and it is unlikely that the publisher will once more embark on a project of this type. It must be said that the news around Final Fantasy VII remains sufficiently charged for Square Enix to have the time (and the desire) to maintain the least viable proposals on a drip. Fans have their eyes already on the most promising anyway Final Fantasy VII : Ever Crisis, Crisis Core : Final Fantasy VII Reunionwithout forgetting Final Fantasy VII RebirthFollowing Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is still available on iOS and Android until January 11, 2023.
