Did you think that crazy collaborations between a brand and a video game were a thing of the past? Well, you’re not at the end of your surprises. Here’s a great one with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Did you know that Sephiroth – Cloud’s archenemy in Final Fantasy 7 – had an obsession with noodles? Oh yes, yes, we swear, we even have a video of FF7 Rebirth which proves it… Well, you will have understood, we are not talking about an official scene but an advertisement. It is the “Donbei” brand, specializing in instant meals in Japan, which is at the origin! In the spot, we can see dear Sephiroth using his powers to force Cloud to eat a bowl of noodles. Reluctant at first, the hero with the rebellious streak will finally let himself be tempted (it’s not as if we gave him a choice). Everything was imagined for the release of the second chapter of the FF7 remake which arrives on 02/29 on PS5.
Sly as a fox
Frankly, these thirty seconds of images are worth the detour, especially to see one of the most iconic villains in video game history with fox ears and tail ! The disguise in question refers to the name of the noodles. This is Fox Udon. Don’t worry, no red-haired animals were harmed during this lunch. This is simply a reference to the orange-tinted piece of fried tofu that is present in the dish. We also salute the production of the whole, with lip synchronization and dubbing specially made for the occasion.

I can’t believe they actually reanimated these #FF7R scenes and had Sephiroth’s voice actor do a commercial for Donbei Udon.

If you want to know everything: this is not the first time that Final Fantansy has revealed its love for Donbei noodles… In FF15, alongside a dedicated advertising spot, the “Cup Noodles” of this same brand are directly integrated into the game. You can eat them, complete a quest about them, and one of the characters who is with you throughout the adventure, Gladiolus, will tell you about them several times. After all, it’s just another way to finance a video game. We particularly remember the cans of Monster energy drink, present in Death Stranding.
