Final Fantasy XVI coming very soon, scheduled for June 22 next, the next game of the cult license will not be released on PS5 everywhere, however. In fact, it will be impossible to buy FF16 in an entire country although its release is planned globally.

Produced by Naoki Yoshida, FF16 is more mature and tackles a darker universe than the usual games. The very popular producer for his titanic work of FFXIV, therefore sees his game unsellable in an entire country for a censorship story.

Final Fantasy 16 banned in Saudi Arabia?

The news fell a few days ago, it’s the General Commission for Audiovisual Media who announced on Twitter that Final Fantasy XVI would not be available in their country. The government agency puts this decision on the back of Square Enix, which would not have liked to censor its game. Very direct in their announcement, the agency did not however wish to communicate the aspects of the game that it would have liked to see censored , very strange given the accusing tweet.

However, when you dig a little deeper, you quickly realize that it is not not the first time that this government agency is blocking games for their country.

Final Fantasy XVI banned because of a gay character or sexual allusions?

We already know that FF16 is a more adult game that will include allusions Has erotic situations, especially characters half naked in a bed during one of the cutscenes.

Moreover, some dialogues allude to prostitution. Character openly gay would also be present in the game.

Apart from this list, the elements of the game are not more violent or dark than other games marketed on the spot, so it would seem that some points of this list did not please the commission, or even the whole list.

For the moment Square Enix therefore seems to have refused to censor its game, and unless it changes its mind, FF16 should therefore remain banned on the spot.
