This Saturday, August 31, the two finalists of the 2024 edition of the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) were defined. Gladiadores de Anzoátegui, current champion of the circuit, will seek the second championship against Guaiqueríes de Margarita.
Despite having a day off, La Armadura advanced to the decisive stage due to the combination of results that occurred in the two matches of the night.
The Tribe defeated Trotamundos de Carabobo with a score of 87-78 at the Guaiqueríes Arena in La Asunción, Nueva Esparta state, and secured their ticket to the final.
Gladiadores secured their place after Cocodrilos de Caracas’ 102-92 defeat against Marinos de Oriente at the Rutaca Sport Arena in Maturín, Monagas state, in a match that went into overtime.
The Anzoátegui quintet will play its second consecutive final (the only two it has in five years of history) and will also seek its second title.
It remains to be seen where the title fight will begin, and this will be clarified after the match on Tuesday, September 2.
Currently, the islanders and Anzoategui teams are tied at the top of the round-robin table with 12 points, the result of five wins and two losses.
On Tuesday, Gladiators will challenge the saurian quintet at the United Nations Park (PNU) in the capital of the country, while Guaiqueríes will face the Eastern Battleship in Maturín.
If both teams win and remain with 14 points each, the tiebreaker would be based on the direct series. The team from Margarita has the advantage there, since they won both matches against La Armadura in the semi-final.
