Filothei: A Heart-Wrenching Story of a Police Officer’s Son Entangled in Chaos

An incident occurred in the early hours of Friday 6/9 in her area Philotheis where two groups of youths clashed fiercely resulting in one person being injured.

As it was established, the victim is the son of a high-ranking police officer and a graduate of Arsakeios. It was early morning together with 4 other friends of his, when they suddenly found themselves surrounded and attacked by people controlling the square.

There had been moments of terror for the young man and his friends when they unknowingly found themselves being attacked by 10 youths. Two groups that allegedly control even who sits on the benches in the square. It all started in the early hours, when the 18-year-old injured man and his friends witnessed a head-on collision between two cars.

Residents of the area talk about mafia practices and laws. In an otherwise well-known area and indeed in one of its most central points. The son of the police officer who jumped to escape was extricated and taken to a hospital for first aid. The police officers arrested two young men on Kifissias Avenue, shortly after the attack, while another 7 who are wanted have already been identified.

The latest data show that all the perpetrators are from the areas of Filothei, Chalandrio and Agia Paraskevi, aged 18-30. Two of the young men of Filothei faced problems with drugs. Stavros Balaskas, a special police analyst, speaking about the case, characterized the gangs in question as “freshwater gangs”, where conflicts break out between them for trivial reasons. Information indicates that the two arrested have had drug problems in the past.
