After two years marked by the health crisis, the long closure of the rooms and the boom in online subscriptions, the Association Française des Cinémas Art et Essai (which brings together 1,200 cinemas) entrusted IFOP with a quantitative study in order to identify the main motivations and uses of subscribers, to assess the possible consequences on their cinema attendance and finally to have benchmarks on the levels of viewing of series and films for the very general public as well as auteur films.
It appears that SVOD is a serious competitor to cinema attendance. The study also reveals that the French people are more followers of series than of films on the platforms, with viewing levels of series significantly higher than those of films.
