Vijay Singh and his son, Qass Singh, won the unofficial and family tournament PCN Championship in Orlando (Florida) on Sunday, while the American Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie, finished eighth.
The Singhs, three-time runners-up, opened with seven straight birdies en route to a 13-under 59 to capture the fun-filled 36-hole game at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando.
Singh, a 59-year-old former Masters champion, sank a birdie putt on the par-5 18th hole for a second consecutive day of 59, making them the first duo in the event’s history to break 60 twice.
“We played well,” said the former Masters champion. “I got off to a great start today and just stuck with it.”
His two-day record total of 118 (-26) was enough for a two-shot victory over John Daly and his son John and Justin Thomas and his father, Mike.
The Woods team, which opened at 59 to share second place the day before, struggled to finish the final day at 65, but Woods was happy to be with his 13-year-old son.
Tiger has doubts regarding the date on which he will return to play golf in an official tournament, but the winner of 15 ‘Majors’ intends to rest and improve his ability to walk in the coming weeks.
