After announcing her cancer on social networks last February, Virgilia Hess took the time to put words to her daily life as a young mother who is fighting once morest the disease. She indeed spoke at length during an interview with Le Parisien, published this Sunday, April 30.

A young mother who fights like a lioness. Virgilia Hess gave an interview to Parisian, published this Sunday, April 30, to discuss her fight, her daughter and the different phases she has been through since the start of her diagnosis. The BFMTV weather presenter learned that she was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant of 6 months. She therefore began to lead her fight while carrying life, and giving it, a few months later.

Luckily for his mummy heart, his cancer treatment had no effect on his princess: “Disease and chemo had no effect on her. I was immediately reassured: the placental barrier is a real protection for the baby. I was also afraid of passing on my stress, my anger, my sadness… The birth was idyllic, a month early, but she is catching up well. She has good cheeks!”she confided regarding her “soleil”as she tenderly calls her daughter.

Virgilia Hess “The first month was very hard”

After receiving her diagnosis, Virgilia Hess decided to talk regarding it on her social networks, for a very specific reason: “Not for people to feel sorry for me or to receive support, but to educate women and send them a positive message”, she confided. It is a message of hope and positive vibes that the young mother therefore wishes to convey, but, obviously, it has not always been easy: “The first month was very hard, I took a blow. I didn’t hurt anywhere, I didn’t feel sick. But I mightn’t digest the news. Having cancer at 32 is already hard, but pregnant, it’s extremely rare! Between 0.05 and 0.1% of cases, I should have played the lottery…”she thought, laughing.

She also talked regarding an outlet she found to feel better in difficult times: “When I arrived at my first chemo with my belly rounded, I felt like a freak. I needed to write what I felt. First for me, on my computer. This allowed me to put a lot of complicated moments into perspective”, she delivered. Words that her granddaughter may be able to read later, to realize all the more the courage and strength of her mother.
