Globally, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women. In Africa, the disease ranks second in terms of incidence and mortality with 117,316 new cases and 76,745 deaths in 2020, according to theInternational Journal of Cancer. In 2020, this cancer caused 342,000 deaths worldwide, 90% of which occur in low- or middle-income countries. This is explained by the difficulties of access to preventive measures.
On the occasion of the congress of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetricswhich is being held in Paris from October 9 to 12, we take stock of the situation in Africa with experts from sub-Saharan Africa.
