The plenary session of Congress did not proceed because the Board of Directors disintegrated and the session had to be adjourned. The parliamentary tactic was recorded when voting for the election of representatives to integrate the Monetary Board.

The official candidate, Samuel Pérez, did not have the support of the alliance to be appointed as representative of the Legislature before the Monetary Board. Legislative sources indicated that the deputies elected by the alliance to the positions were those promoted by the National Unity of Hope (UNE) and Cabal.

By not obtaining support, and in the face of annoyance from different blocks, allies and opposition, the Board of Directors chose to disintegrate, which caused the session to be suspended without knowing the approval by articles and final drafting of initiative 6314 that reforms the law of the Workers’ Recreation Institute (Irtra), which was also on the agenda.

Due to the way in which the session concluded, due to an apparent lack of votes in favor of the official candidate, the Vamos party is analyzing the possibility of filing criminal complaints. Its block head, Allan Rodríguez, said that there were at least two secretaries of the Board of Directors whom they identified at the time of breaking the quorum in a premeditated manner.

At the moment they are analyzing whether the legal actions would be once morest the entire Board of Directors or only once morest those who they consider were able to distance themselves with the intention of stopping the session.

Are they still allies?

While the Vamos block announced legal actions once morest some members of the Board of Directors, the UNE and Cabal blocks remained in the chamber. Each group met with its deputies, and following a few minutes they left the chamber.

Deputy Manuel Archila, from Cabal, considers that this type of vote is won in a democratic event, highlighting that the political agreement that made up the Directive is unrelated to this vote.

For her part, Inés Castillo, head of the UNE block, pointed out that they are not “married” to the ruling party, and that what was done by the Board of Directors was nothing more than a tactic.

The next meeting of block heads will be on Monday, and different congressmen said that an issue that will be presented will be the way in which the Board of Directors broke a quorum during the voting event.
