Fight Data Collection: 10 YouTube Alternatives

There is no doubt that the biggest and most popular video sharing platform on the Internet right now is YouTube. YouTube has well over 2 billion active users and makes nearly 1 billion videos available. The biggest advantage of the site is that, with the exception of advertisements before and during the videos, it is basically free. However, this is actually not the case.

There are better and worse YouTube alternatives

We pay for YouTube not only by watching a few seconds of advertisements, but by much more. We pay with our data and the information of our lives. Because YouTube is very aggressive in collecting data under the guise of improving the user experience. It collects when and for how long we watch what videos, what browsing history we have, who we communicate with and so on. However, there is an increasingly large group of users and content creators who do not ask for this. So in the following we will list some sites that can be considered as YouTube alternatives. Of course, we can also use YouTube, but it is strongly recommended to use a VPN provider or accept that our lives will be an open book.

Here are some YouTube alternatives:

1) Dailymotion: maybe not so well known in Hungary, but here too there is some data collection and even advertisements. But it has more than 250 million users.

2) Vimeo: this is a good alternative, as it doesn’t really collect data, there are no advertisements and there are plenty of over 200 million users

3) D.tube: if it’s a crypto community, it’s a decentralized video sharing, there are no ads and our data is safe. The downside is that it has just under 2 million users

4) Twitch: it is mainly liked by the gaming community, unfortunately there are advertisements and data is also collected regarding us, but in return we are talking regarding a fairly large community

5) IG TV: if we can stand the fact that our data is being monitored and collected and there are even advertisements, then this is a good platform, and it has more than 1 billion users

6) Bitchute: ad-free, completely free site, which nevertheless has some data collection. The community has around 16 million users

7) 9GAG TV: constantly collects and shares our data, so in return we get a completely free platform used by nearly 200 million people

8) Open Video Project: a free and -free platform where it is a strict rule that no information is collected regarding us. It has barely a few thousand users

9) TED: they also collect some data regarding us, although not as much as YouTube. Tens of millions of users and an ad-free interface await us

10) Utreon: despite having a transparent data management policy, they also collect some data regarding us. A few thousand users and an ad-free platform welcome us here.
