MERANO. The people of Merano are tired of seeing garbage on the street. And the municipal company knows it well. Less than a year ago it activated an “emergency room” number to deal with the uncivilized phenomenon of “wild bag”. He has recorded over 200 reports. Useful, but that’s not enough. and so theAsm relaunches: now also thanks to the Whatsapp, Telegram and Messenger channels it is possible to warn of the presence of waste disposed of illegally along the streets and in the squares.
The image.
It is a battle that the municipal company has always fought once morest illegal waste disposal. Against those who circumvent the rules, whose behavior increases the bills, because the recovery of the residue is distributed on everyone’s pockets. There is also the aspect of public hygiene to consider, but also and perhaps above all those bags weigh on the image of the city. Beyond the fact that Merano is a tourist resort: those images are especially bad for the residents.
The revival of the action.
It is in this horizon that the relaunch of the Municipalized operation hinges. In the spring of last year, the municipal inhouse company had introduced the possibility of contacting the customer care service (with the service number 0473 283000), the customer desk or the live chat on the website of the municipal services company (www.asmmerano. it) to report illegal waste deposits.
The initiative has given some results. But perhaps less than one would have hoped. There are 206 reports received since activation. One a day, maybe less. many? Few? Certainly more can be done. A non-marginal figure: each intervention required three hours of work from the Asm employees.
New modes.
So from 1 March new communication methods have been introduced to further facilitate the reporting of any illegal waste deposits: now it can be done via Telegram, Whatsapp and Messenger. The novelty comes at the same time as the inauguration of the new director of the municipal company, Patrick König, also chosen to give impetus to the company’s communication. The new services are available Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 20 and Saturday from 9 to 13.
The new methods, as mentioned, complement the existing ones, i.e. telephone contact or live chat on the Asm Merano website or the physical counter, open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8.30 to 12 and Wednesday from 7.30 to 13.15.
The operator who will receive the signal on the cell phone will start the intervention and at the end of the same will send a communication to confirm the disposal. “The new emergency service refers only to reports of illegal deposits and underlines ASM’s commitment to combating the phenomenon of illegal waste”, underlines a note from the company. The QRs that connect users directly to the new contact channels are also published on the Municipality’s website.

The fight once morest the “wild bag” is not the only challenge that awaits König. In fact, the door-to-door organic/wet waste collection, introduced at the beginning of the year, needs to be recorded. A revolution for a large part of the inhabitants of Merano.
