FIFA is concerned about BlackPink’s concert

FIFA is concerned that BlackPink’s concert in Indonesia in March will affect the 2023 U20 World Cup sporting event.

February 10, according to CNN Indonesiathe Indonesian Football Association announced that it will not neglect the maintenance of the grass of the Gelora Bung Karno stadium even though the BlackPink concert will take place in March. The local U20 World Cup organizers are in regular contact with FIFA. to discuss turf quality assurance.

“We report all activities. For concerts, we have been in contact with them since the beginning of the year,” a representative said.

In addition to BlackPink’s concert, singer Raisa also held a concert at this stadium on February 25.

Previously, according to the source of NMEFIFA denied the use of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium in Jakarta for non-football activities, including BlackPink’s upcoming concert.

In an email to the General Secretary of the Indonesian Football Federation, FIFA stated its stance: “After consulting with the management, we were unable to agree on the proposed schedule. Holding two concerts will definitely hinder a lot in implementing the original schedule as planned.”

“Given the significant investment that the government has spent to provide a high-quality football field, the two concerts will have a significant impact on the quality of the playing field when held close to the day of the event. In this writing, we request the GBK Stadium Management Board to review the above situation,” a FIFA representative said.

Last November, the news that the Indonesian Government opposed BlackPink’s concert at GBK Stadium received many opinions. However, then the concert was approved.

The FIFA U20 World Cup will be held from May 20 to June 11. GBK Stadium will be renovated this month.

BlackPink will perform in Jakarta on March 11 and 12. Tickets for both shows in Indonesia are sold out. From January to May 2023, BlackPink conducted an Asia tour, including stops in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, Manila, and Singapore.

2023 continues to be BlackPink’s explosive year when in April, the girls will perform at the Coachella 2023 music festival in the US, alongside many world stars. BlackPink also became the first K-pop group in history to perform at Coachella.
