The International Football Association (FIFA) on Monday allowed Georges-Kevin Nkodou, the former winger of the French national under-21 team, to move to represent the Cameroonian national team.

Nkodu played for French Marseille and Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Turkey’s Besiktas.

Nkodu has never represented the French national team, and therefore under FIFA regulations he can move to represent the Cameroon national team, where his family roots go back there.

The Cameroon Football Association, headed by the legend Samuel Eto’o, submitted a request to FIFA to use Nkoudou’s services.

Last week, Cameroon coach Rigobert Song decided to call 27-year-old Nkodu to the preliminary list of the Lions’ national team, in preparation for the team’s matches in the qualifiers for the African Nations Cup, next month.
