If you are used to seeing the name of FIFA video games circulating, you will have to get used to the change: the title will now be EA Sports FC and precisely, the release date of the next game potentially comes from a leaker.
A historic shift
FIFA video games have punctuated our video game news annually for decades now and Electronic Arts has rubbed its hands with it for generations, definitively overcoming an all-powerful PES in the early 2000s: despite everything, all good things come to an end… or rather, a legacy.
Not really happy with his collaboration with FIFA itself, which prevented him from aiming for certain creative heights to believe the words of EA, the publisher therefore announced its separation from the football giant last year. Whatever, the developers remain the same, many partnerships with official licenses remain and the rhythm will remain annual: we are therefore impatiently awaiting the reveal of EA Sports FC 24.
Already a release date?
While Electronic Arts hasn’t unveiled much yet (oh yes, we have a logo, to be found above), here is an insider named Billbil-kun, who in the past revealed many dates outings and video games, resurfaced: according to him, FC 24 will be released on September 29, 2023. It’s a rather usual date for a FIFA, even if it’s officially not one anymore – in short, you understand.
The leaker also allows himself to add a detail of choice: there would be an early access period launched a week before release, but only for those who have reserved the Ultimate Edition. A week of early access is much more than that reserved for buyers of the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 23, which lasted three days.
An already busy schedule
By positioning itself at the end of September, EA Sports FC 24 will have to face other highly anticipated tenors: Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will arrive for example on September 26, Detective Pikachu Returns on October 6, Forza Motorsport on October 10, Assassin’s Creed Mirage on 12, Lords of the Fallen on 13…
It’s a real bulimia that awaits us at the end of the year: and once more it is without counting on Starfield which will arrive on September 6 and all the others from the second half of October such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake II, Super Mario Bros. Wonder and so on.
So of course, the FIFAs have never really had to fear these opponents who, following all, are playing in a different category and for a different audience. Nevertheless, with a name change that many casual players are not yet aware of and a decidedly late reveal, FC 24 will have to work extra hard to achieve the same score as FIFA 23, namely 10.3 million sales in one week. Especially that opposite, all the franchises are already well known to the general public.
