Fiesp and Cietec launch call for deep tech startups with solutions to industry challenges

Innovation to accelerate Brazilian industry, this is the motto of the call for startups to solve major industrial challenges. The initiative, in partnership with the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology (Cietec) and the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), together with the Technological Base Incubator of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research (Ipen), will select 15 deep tech startups that use scientific discoveries to bring resolutions to the industry.

Deep techs must meet the missions of the Nova Indústria Brasil program. Registration will be open until January 15th.

These deep techs will be developed in the DNA Program, Cietec’s proprietary methodology. Registration will be open until January 15, 2025, on the USP and IPEN Incubator website [www.inscricoes.cietec.org.br/incubadora-sp].

In this third batch, that is, group, of the DNA Program, the applicant startups must fulfill one of three Nova Indústria Brasil missions prioritized by Fiesp: Health and the Health Industrial Complex (Mission 2), Decarbonization of the Economy (Mission 4), Industry 4.0 and Digitalization (Mission 5). Launched by the Federal Government, Nova Indústria Brasil seeks to stimulate productive and technological development and increase the competitiveness of Brazilian industry.

Those selected

The 15 selected startups will have opportunities such as access to an exclusive relationship network with industries associated with unions and with industries close to Fiesp, in addition to the possibility of testing proofs of concept with these partners.
Felipe Massami Maruyama, Operations Director at Cietec, highlights that initiatives like this are essential to bring science-based startups closer to the real demands of the industry, creating a more integrated and efficient innovation ecosystem.
“With the DNA Program, we offer deep techs not only the support they need to mature their technologies, but also the opportunity to test solutions directly in industries associated with unions and industries that are close to FIESP. This is a strategic step to accelerate Brazil’s productive and innovative development, aligning science, market and economic impact”, says Maruyama.

Accelerate Fiesp

For Pierre Ziade, director of the Department of Micro, Small, Medium Industry and Acelera Fiesp, the partnership with Cietec in the DNA Program reinforces the commitment to innovation and strengthening Brazilian industry.
“By connecting deep techs with the real demands of the production sector, we create an environment conducive to the development of technological solutions that boost the competitiveness and sustainability of companies. This partnership not only promotes industrial modernization, but also positions Brazil as a protagonist in the global innovation scenario”, points out Ziade.

Exclusive methodology for deep techs

The DNA Program offers hybrid training tracks, combining online and in-person experiences. Entrepreneurs will participate in a unique methodology divided into three cycles: Discovery, Business and Acceleration. This allows entrepreneurs to receive adequate support according to the maturity of their business and technologies. The face-to-face activities will be carried out at the São Paulo Technology-Based Business Incubator and at FIESP.
The selected startups will receive a personalized diagnosis, evaluating the level of maturity of the business, as well as recommendations from experts for the development of strategic points. Through the DNA Program, they will have access to training, mentoring, business opportunities and exclusive events.

Simplified Application

It is important to note that it is not necessary to have a registered CNPJ to apply. The process is simple: just fill out the form available at this link: www.inscricoes.cietec.org.br/incubadora-sp.
Applications will be evaluated by the Examining Board based on criteria such as degree of innovation, entrepreneurial profile, market potential, technological risk and impact. The result of the selection process will be announced in March 2024.
