Since Wednesday, February 14, the Les Mousquetaires group has withdrawn water bottles from the “Fiée des Lois” and “Premier prix” brands because of “regulatory non-compliance without risk to health”.
Bottles of water from the brands “Fiée des Lois” and “Premier prix” were withdrawn this Wednesday, February 14 from Intermarché supermarkets, BFM Business learned this Thursday from the Les Mousquetaires group, confirming information from the New Republic.
These bottles, produced in a factory located in Prahecq, in Deux-Sèvres, are no longer produced or marketed due to the detection of pesticides in the water table used by the company, continued the local media, citing the Agency regional health (ARS) of New Aquitaine.
“No health risk”
According to the deputy director of the Deux-Sèvres delegation of this ARS, the “quality vigilance threshold” for a fungicide molecule, the metabolite R471811 of Chlorothalonil, was exceeded during sampling.
For its part, the Mousquetaires group wants to be reassuring. “After various analyzes carried out in the Deux-Sèvres department and on the Fiée des Lois site, it was revealed that there was regulatory non-compliance with no risk to the health of consumers on the water manufactured by the site.”
And added: “As soon as the problem was identified, we took the decision to suspend the production of water from the sources concerned.”
The bottles were withdrawn from sale “as a precautionary principle and out of responsibility”.
Each year, 45 million bottles of water are packaged by the company. For the moment, the impact of this measure “remains under study”. While the site employs nearly 150 employees, the Mousquetaires assure that the employees concerned have “obviously been supported and repositioned on the site’s other activities”, knowing that the company packages nearly 100 million liters of wine each year, or approximately 90% of the factory’s turnover.
