Fiebich and Sabally with Liberty in the WNBA Finals

The German national basketball players Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally are in the final series for the WNBA championship. Against defending champion Las Vegas Aces, the New York Liberty got the necessary third win in the semifinal series in the fourth game. Last season, both teams faced each other in the final, with Las Vegas coming out on top.

Sabally was already there at the time, but watched the game on Sunday from the bench. Fiebich, on the other hand, is playing her first season in the WNBA and contributed to the victory as a player in the starting lineup.

Fiebich, who was recently elected to the NBA’s All-Rookie team and is therefore officially one of the best rookies in the league, had a strong shooting rate of 66.7 percent and scored 11 points. With her on the field, the Liberty had an increase in points of 28, by far the best value of all players on both teams. Sabrina Ionescu scored the most points for the Liberty with 22 points, while teammate Breanna Stewart had 19.

“We won, so it was pretty good,” Ionescu said. »We haven’t achieved anything yet. We all know that. We have to keep coming out and striking, we haven’t achieved anything yet.”

In the final series starting on Thursday, the Liberty will face either the Minnesota Lynx or the Connecticut Sun. The Lynx lead 2-1 in this series.
