Arkady Dvorkovich said he does not want to chair a meeting on lifting sanctions against Russians
The President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), Russian citizen Arkady Dvorkovich, decided not to chair the organization’s meeting on lifting sanctions against Russians for their further admission to tournaments. This was announced by Dvorkovich himself.
“Considering that we are talking about Russia, I will not chair the meeting on this issue,” Dvorkovich said, TASS reports. Instead, the meeting will be chaired by the organization’s vice president, Indian Viswanathan Anand.
Earlier, the FIDE Council recommended allowing children from Russia to participate in team tournaments. The same applies to citizens of Belarus.
